Saggar Fired Planet
Pickup currently unavailable
This elegant ceramic sphere is entirely handmade with plaster mould and crafted using the Saggar firing technique. The sphere is carefully finished with three layers of terra sigillata, giving it a soft, natural sheen. The exterior remains unglazed, allowing the vase to retain its raw, organic beauty.
Each sphere undergoes bisque firing followed by Raku firing in a specialized kiln. The Saggar firing process involves placing the piece in a sealed container with organic materials, which react with the heat and create the sphere’s unique surface patterns and colors.
Dimensions:
Diameter: 30 cm
Unique Features:
- A smooth, natural finish with subtle color variations created by the Saggar firing process
- A matte, unglazed surface for a raw, organic look
- Each sphere features unique patterns due to the interaction of materials during firing, ensuring no two pieces are alike
Craftsmanship: I personally oversee every stage of production, from the design and choice of clay to the firing process. Each vase is handmade in my studio in Urbino, Italy, and bears the Di Luca Ceramics stamp, a mark of authenticity and artistry.
Care Instructions: These vases are not frost-proof and should not be used outdoors. To clean, gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth. For added shine, apply liquid wax to maintain the finish and prevent humidity stains. As the vase is low-fired, it is delicate and not watertight, making it unsuitable for holding liquids or food.
Each vase is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, ideal for display or as a special gift. The photos shown reflect the exact vase you will receive.
